Hyena

SMS & Email Notice

Last updated October 2026

Who sends these messages

Hyena is a workplace safety platform used by employers to communicate with their own Team about safety at work. If you've received a text or email from Hyena, it's because your employer uses Hyena and added your contact information to it, or because you entered your own number or email when you sent a Signal.

How you agree to texts

Your employer adding your phone number to Hyena does not sign you up for texts, and working for them is not consent. Hyena can't agree on your behalf, and neither can your employer. When your number is added, Hyena sends that number one text: it introduces Hyena and asks you to reply YES to receive Hyena messages by text. Until you reply YES, nothing else is sent to your number. If you never reply, or you reply STOP, you won't receive anything more. Your YES reply is recorded against your number, with the time you sent it, as your consent. Agreeing to texts is voluntary, and you can use Hyena with email if you choose not to opt in. See also how text messaging works.

If you send a Signal and enter your own mobile number to get private updates, entering it is your consent. We use it only to text you about that Signal.

Email is separate. If your employer adds your email address, Hyena may email you workplace safety updates. To stop them, ask your employer to remove you, or write to support@hyena.team.

What you'll receive by text

Hyena workplace safety messages, and only after you've replied YES (or entered your own number with a Signal):

  • Updates on safety concerns ("Signals") you or a coworker raised
  • Plans created to address those concerns
  • Invitations to anonymous workplace surveys ("Reality Checks")
  • Urgent safety alerts from your employer

Message frequency varies based on activity at your workplace. Message and data rates may apply. Hyena doesn't share mobile numbers, or your consent to texts, with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

How to opt out

Reply STOP to any text from Hyena to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. You can also ask your employer to remove you from Hyena, or write to support@hyena.team, at any time. Opting out of texts doesn't affect your ability to raise a Signal with your employer through other means.
