Overview

Hyena is a workplace safety platform. Employers ("Leaders") use Hyena to let their Team raise safety concerns, track action on them, and run anonymous surveys. This policy covers both Leaders and Team members using Hyena.

Anonymous Signals stay anonymous

When a Team member submits a safety concern anonymously, Hyena does not store or reveal their identity to their employer. Anonymous means anonymous — this is core to how Hyena works, not a setting that can be overridden after the fact.

What we collect

• Account and workplace details a Leader provides when setting up Hyena
• Team contact information (name, phone, and/or email) added by a Leader
• Content submitted through Hyena — Signals, Plans, survey responses, comments, and photos
• Basic delivery information for texts and emails we send (e.g. whether a message was delivered)

How we use it

We use this information to operate Hyena for the workplace that added it — routing Signals, sending the notifications described in our SMS & Email Notice, and showing Leaders and Team members their own data. We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who it's shared with

Within a workplace, information is shared according to the roles built into Hyena — for example, a Leader can see Signals raised at their company, and a Lead Team member receives the specific notifications Hyena's Lead Team feature is designed to send. Outside of a workplace, we share information only with the infrastructure providers that run Hyena (hosting, database, and message delivery), and only as needed to provide the service.

Data retention and security

We retain information for as long as a workplace's Hyena account is active, plus a reasonable period after, and take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP, or ask your Leader to remove you from Hyena. Leaders can contact us to request changes to their workplace's data.
